Description

Vacuum blasting is an abrasive blasting method, also referred to as dustless blasting or closed loop abrasive blasting. The method is characterized by a blast tool that does abrasive blasting and collects both used blast media, and loosened particles from the surface to be treated, simultaneously. The blast tool is equipped with a blast hose and a suction hose, that both run from the blast tool to a control unit. The control unit supplies the blast tool with pressurized air mixed with blast media, and sucks back dust, loosened particles and used blast media. The control unit continuously separates dust and loosened particles from the used blast media, and sends used blast media back into the pressurized air flow. The dust and loosened particles are collected in a waste bin.

Application

The equipment can be widely used in petrochemical industry, metal structure, ship repair, pipeline power, aerospace aviation, locomotive manufacturing and other industries. It is an ideal tool for pre-processing of various steel structures.

How does it work?

The TS Machinery machine mixes abrasive particles with compressed air to allow them to be blown on to the work surface at high speed which strips back the paint and other contaminants to original surface and all residues are contained and vacuumed back into the system. The system can also operate at low pressure ranging from 58-100 psi.

The heavy particles are separated from the dust; the particles are then allowed to fall into a collection drum. The mullet-cartridge dust collector captures the fine dust allowing it to fall into the collection drum and the air then passes through a filter to ensure that the discharge air is clean. With no moving parts, this air powered venturi system is the ultimate in reliability.

What are its advantages over conventional methods of cleaning?

Normal sandblasting cuts the contaminant from the surface, but causes toxic or hazardous waste to become airborne. TS Machinery vacuum machine retrieves dust, residue and abrasive at the point of blast and eliminates the negatives traditionally associated with open blasting -Contamination, dust, poor visibility, operator exposure, shut down work surrounds, clean up. It allows blasting to be undertaken were no other methods would be acceptable.

Failure and Troubleshooting

Failure Probable Cause Troubleshooting
Small compressed air Small air pressure in the regulator valve. Rotate regulator valve, adjust the air pressure.
Continuous air flow with no sand or discontinuous sand
  • Too little abrasive.
  • The abrasive is wet or piece in the tank.
  • The abrasive valve isn’t opened or jammed.
  • The size of abrasive is too big to block the nozzle.
  • Feed abrasive.
  • Change the abrasive.
  • Open abrasive valve to make the abrasive blast repeatedly. Or take down the abrasive valve to check.
  • Please use thin iron rod remove the abrasive.
Abrasive blasted is uneven
  • Too little abrasive.
  • Low compressed air pressure.
  • Nozzle is blocked.
  • Wet abrasive.
  • Abrasive valve and air valve aren’t adjusted correctly.
  • Add abrasive.
  • Adjust high air compressor pressure.
  • Remove the plug.
  • Remove the wet abrasive, add the dry abrasive, check if there is water in gas pipeline.
  • Adjust two valves.
Low recycle system efficiency
  • Checking if it leaks out in the connection of sealing and recycle tube.
  • Too much dust in the filter.
  • The brush head and protective tube are broken.
  • Eliminate the connection air leak.
  • Clean the filter by the pulse switch. If the filter is very dirty, please take down the filter from machine to clean and keep dry status. If the filter is broken, please change it.
  • Change the new brush head and protective tube.
Too much blasted sand
  • Please check if the abrasive valve opening is too large.
  • Please check if the spool in the abrasive valve is in a serious wear.
  • Please adjust the abrasive valve opening again.
  • Please change the spool or abrasive valve.
Low working efficiency
  • Please check if the working pressure is ok.
  • Please check if nozzle wear.
  • Bad performance of separator, most dust flow into the pressure tank.
  • Adjust the pressure between 0.4 to 0.8Mpa.
  • Please change the new nozzle.
  • Please check if the inside of separator wear.
